The game will be down a little bit longer for copying. Check room #237 at too.logrus.com 6660 for updates!
NorConMUSH will be down due to server maintenance at our hosting site from 4pm PT on February 6 to 4pm PT on February 7, 2010.
Please join us on TooMUSH in the interim, NC’s refugee room is located at #237 and Fort has three RP rooms built out. FTW1 is a mini-grid of Fort rooms, if you’d like to link up a private room, the living cavern and the bowl on the mini-grid are both link_ok. FTW2 is set for Fort Hold and FTW3 has our tp room code on it. If you see header and footer error messages in the tp room, pay no mind, those are holdover references from NC and don’t affect the function of the multi-descer.
On day 25 of month 11, turn 21, a full three weeks after she was taken by raiders, Vanissa was rescued by a party from the Weyr that included M’try and several other riders. Just how she was found is being chalked up to luck and excellent help with the local terrain by Dashaya and other Peyton area holders. Known only to the Weyrleaders and a handful of other riders, is B’kaiv’s role in the rescue as the greenrider continues to remain undercover with the raiders. B’kaiv’s placement with the raiders continues to be a secret held by a select few at the Weyr – public information locates him at Monaco Weyr still, doing an exchange.
The kidnapped weyrling seems to be physically healthy, but suffering from some knd of shock. The Weyrleader was seen carrying his sister out of the infirmary after her return and has been keeping a close watch over her since as well as bringing their mother in from Nerat temporarily.

While the Weyrleaders haven’t been saying much about actual plans to deal with Vanissa’s abduction, reassurances have been tendered that the matter is being handled, including the demands from the ransom letter received at the Weyr just a few days after the weyrling went missing.
Search parties continue to go out on a regular basis every day, combing the areas on the maps highlighted by Dashaya and other Peyton allies. Recently, all searchers have been instructed to focus on one area in particular and to look for movement in any clearings within those hills.
One thing that the Weyrleaders have made clear is that there will be no negotiating with raiders and with the deadline for meeting the demands in the note passing, many might be wondering what will happen to the missing weyrling or even how the Weyrleader, her own brother, could let her hang out to dry like that.
* * * NOT PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE * * *
On day 13 of month 11, B’kaiv, undercover, finally managed to actually locate where Vanissa is being kept by the raiders.
The catch? Chielyth can’t give anyone a clear reference to where she is to jump dragons in and it’s tough for Kai to pass out a map.
It does help to narrow the radius down though and rumor has it that plans are underway to try to extract the weyrling before the raiders’ ransom deadline is up.

The evening of day 4 of month 11, turn 21 of the 10th interval seemed fairly normal, the weather pleasant, the conversation in the living cavern merry enough, in spite of ongoing undercurrents of tension. All of that changed when dragons started trumpeting out in the Bowl in response to the alarm raised by Liath, Orisoth and Jheilinth.
Much confusion reigned until one thing came clear from all the hubbub: Vanissa was kidnapped, presumably by raiders near a waystation in the Peyton area.
Once the immediate furor died down, the following facts were determined: 1) Several of the weyrlings were involved, including Dashaya and Jiella, 2) The group of weyrlings had taken it upon themselves, under the guise of Between training, to try to spy out information about the raiders, 3) Vanissa seems to have vanished without a trace and Liath cannot get a fix on her position, though she reports that her rider is alive and is not hurt.
Search parties have been organized of course and the Weyrleader is understandably, very motivated to find his sister. In the meantime, Jiella and Dashaya have both been assigned watchrider duty as a temporary disciplinary measure until Jantha makes a final determination about their status. Given her knowledge of the Peyton area, however, Dashaya has also been asked to coordinate with Peyton Hold and assist with rescue efforts.
OOC note: If you’d like to be involved in the attempts to recover Vanissa, please feel to RP about searching for her in the general area of Peyton. Also, drop a +mail to ftwadmin if you’d like some hooks towards actually finding her.
It was announced on the 2nd day of the 11th month that B’kaiv and bluerider N’mar, both from Obsidian, would be sent to Monaco Weyr for a few months “to improve inter-Weyr relations”. Which is a fancy way of saying ‘get them out of our hair’, isn’t it? N’mar doesn’t enjoy a brawl quite as much as the greenrider, though he never turns one down that comes calling. Maybe Fort has it in for Monaco, if they’re sending those two? So… are they /staying/ down there? For good?
Whatever the reason for sending them, Chielyth and Saleth’s ledges were empty by the next day, their riders’ personal effects packed into storage. Maybe this strange not-exile will be ended by Turnover, though T’rev remains tight-lipped about when (or if) the riders will return.
Apparently, while Esraval and Isobel were on their wedding trip, a ship was raided near where their own vessel was sailing and Esraval got on a tear about ‘putting an end to such infamy’ and has promised his young bride that he will eradicate this threat to Fortian security as a wedding present.
The Weyrleader has been going around to the various holds along with other riders to coordinate new efforts that involve pledging a certain number of guards to the effort and in the coastal holds, providing some sea support with boats and at Boll especially, putting riders on ships, posing as sailors in order to be able to call air support in the event of a raid.
At Fort, Esraval is hiring additional guards and rapid-training them so that defenses along the roads can be spread out better. The same is being encouraged in all holds in the Fort region. All small holds that ‘look to’ Fort directly or indirectly through a minor hold will shortly find guard posts being set up along all roads and guards from the Hold becoming more visible and present in general in the area.
At Ruatha, the focus is on the river, rather than the roads and patrols are being set up using small boats. At Boll, support for sailing ships is the focus, with guards stashed on as many cargo ships as possible.
Will all this activity finally put a stop to the raiding?
Several hours before the sky fell at the Reaches on day 11 of month 10, Fort’s riders got into a skirmish with some of the raiders and one of Fort’s own was killed. M’liam and Blue Klevinth were lost Between on the afternoon of that day, fighting bravely for their home turf.
