Yamilet’s Savannah’s Sunlight Green Ivwynoth
NAME: Ivwynoth
EGGNAME: Triple Tricks Egg
EGGDESC: From afar, this egg seems to be a leaden gray, slightly glossy but not remarkable color-wise, perhaps slightly more shadowed towards the bottom and paler at the top, one the eye would drift away from. Along its sides, however, there are vertical traces of steely silver that glint ever so slightly against the dark backdrop. Pale and elusive, the silver streaks twist into an electrum of sandy gold and pearly tones, the very faintest speckles of pure, glittering gold topping off the bulky, spherical shape of the egg.
EGGINSP: In ‘The Merchant of Venice’, Portia puts her suitors to the task of choosing between three chests: gold, silver and lead to ultimately determine who is worthy of marrying her. The greedy and the fools are repelled, but the one that can look beyond appearances wins her hand.
EGGCREDIT: Sedark
DDESC: The most striking features of this small green are her large, shadow-rimmed eyes that betray a quiet curiosity whether she is active or at rest. Those shadow rings are quite the contrast to the rest of her, her agile honeydew frame touched with the healthy brightness of morning light over the lush savannah. Her nose bears a smudge of darkness, her muzzle angular and neck slim, delicate mossy ridges kissed with summer’s brightness. Spars longer than might suit her build are brushed with the soft stripes of marsh reeds, her pale sails light and gauzy; almost see-through in places. Long limbs are a little on the thin side, her talons a dusty grey; the same shade to be found in cloud-like gatherings along the length of her tail.
HATCHMESSAGE: Triple Tricks Egg wriggles more violently in its sand-cradle, cracks beginning to appear at its tip, little striations running their way down its shell. Claws soon appear in the middle of those slim lines, shell torn through to reveal a pale little green dragonet who shivers and shakes the rest of her egg away from her.
HATCHLINGNAME: Savannah’s Sunlight Green
PERSONALITY:
It will become obvious even in the first few days that Ivwynoth has a lot in common with her sister, Isyath. However, where Isyath investigates, Ivwynoth will go (literally) sticking her nose into everything, tipping over bins, scrabbling at other people’s cots and deciding that pails of meat abandoned for even a second are now hers and hers alone. One thing is for sure: you’re going to have to try to teach her manners before her behaviour earns you both a reputation. She’ll listen to you, of course, and look to you for guidance, gazing up at you with such sweet innocence that you’ll believe she’s listening to your every word. However, this doesn’t mean that she /is/. You’ll quickly have to learn when she’s genuinely listening to you or just humouring and appeasing you. At least when she goes and curls up in someone else’s couch five minutes after you’ve discussed /not/ to, you’ll have had the chance to pick up on the signs that she’s not been listening to a single word! The thing is, both her physical and mental hearing is particularly sensitive: she’ll pick up on sounds that her siblings don’t and even mental whispers you don’t mean for her to hear, which might only make it feel all the worse when she doesn’t listen to what you /want/ her to.
Sitting still and paying attention during class are not her strong points. She won’t be able to repeat instructions back to the weyrlingmasters’ dragons and she won’t be able to help you if you look to her for the answer you don’t have, but she’ll throw herself wholeheartedly into any activity. There might be more than a few bumps and bruises along the way for you both thanks to this, but Ivwynoth learns by doing and every little knick and scratch will teach her something she won’t forget, even if she does have to use your memory to stash away her own little book of dos and don’ts. When she hurts or when she’s upset, you’ll find that she has a tendency to curl up tight, nose to tail, and tremble until she can be coaxed into co-operating again or to move from that awkward spot in the bowl that she’s decided to occupy. Sometimes, if she’s bored of an afternoon, she’ll do this just for attention, only to spring up and away once she’s gathered enough people to her.
Even as she matures, she’ll always be on the go and though she might tell you that she’s in one place when you ask, she could well be in another by the time you get there! She moves quickly, making sharp, precise turns on the ground as well as in the skies. Paws are picked up quickly, as though the ground beneath them is too hot to touch, and her tail will often stream out straight behind her like a banner, tip twitching should she find something that she finds particularly entertaining. She’ll always be the one making sneak-attacks on her siblings and friends, believing herself to be so tiny as to be unseen. Though she will often still seek to play and ignore the protests of those who claim to wish to be left alone, her socialising is always done with a certain innocent charm, one that makes her difficult to disregard.
Given her small size and slim build, you’ll both soon learn that she’s built for pulling off daredevil tricks and stunts in the skies. Obviously gifted from a young age, this does however have a serious drawback that will have to be addressed: she can burn up all her energy in a fraction of the time that she should, if given free-rein. Enthusiastic in drills, she’ll need to be kept from tiring herself out long before her wingmates and, if you don’t manage to get this under control, it could lead to a career of jumping from Wing to Wing for you both. Socially, this doesn’t have the potential to be damaging for /her/, since she’s affectionate with and genuinely interested in her wingmates, able to find her own little spot in which to fit in even the most hostile of groups.
As she approaches adulthood, you’ll find that there’s one thing that you’ll have to handle before your classmates. Ivwynoth will probably be the first in her clutch to rise to mate, potentially before she reaches the end of her first turn. Despite this precocious behaviour, she’ll not be one to rise often, even as little as once or twice a turn. Bonds she’s made with the males she knows will play a major part in her flights and have the power to influence her, just as you do. Her interest in her mate will go beyond the moment: she’s looking for a long-term partner and will stick close to her chosen male until she rises again. She’s apt to let her former choices influence her and will likely form a strong bond with one male in particular, or a small collection of favourites from over the turns.
Depending on how you handle her and how much you let her get away with, Ivwynoth has the potential to grow into a mischievous, but charming young lady or a hyperactive handful who’s difficult to control. Figuring out where the line is will be key for both of you, but she’ll never do anything to deliberately hurt you. All things take time… It’s just that Ivwynoth might take more time than most!
PRIVIMPRESS: The rustle of grass slips into your mind, bringing with it a friendly, cheerful warmth that settles and makes itself perfectly at home without asking if it’s welcome. That rustle gets louder and /louder/ until you’re sure /something/ is sneaking up on you and a cry of, << Yamilet! >> breaks through and scatters your thoughts. << Come on! We don’t have time to stand still! We have to eat and meet all these people and--! >> Silence. The list could go on, but the presence chooses to wind herself closer and closer to you instead, trying to take in your every stray thought and feeling. << I’m Ivwynoth. Yes, of course you know! We /have/ to get going! >> She wants and trusts you to join her. Always.
PUBLICIMPRESS: Agile despite her youth (or perhaps its merely the momentum she’s gained carrying her along regardless), the Savannah’s Sunlight Green Hatchling darts across the Sands, zigzagging along as if now she knows exactly who she’s looking for. She eventually skids to a halt before a girl with chestnut hair and blue eyes, sending up a spray of sand as she reaches a stop.
MINDVOICE: Ivwynoth speaks with the warmth of the Sahara desert threaded liberally through her touch, no trace of the roughness of sand; only the often cloying heat. When at rest, that heat is sometimes tempered by a cool breeze, but the more enthusiastic and active she is, the more the temperature rises! Her words and emotions are punctuated not by the sand, but by the life in the desert, from the rustle of dry, brittle leaves to a herd of galloping gazelle, sometimes even a splash from her own little oasis.
NAMEMEANING: Ivwynoth’s name comes from the Welsh word for fox ‘llwynog’, with a twist to get the style of name you requested.
FINAL-SIZE: 20.2
INSPIRATION: Ivwynoth is based on the fennec fox, to give you the animal elements that you requested and the quirky behavioural traits that you were seeking in a dragon. Fennec foxes are native to the Sahara and known for their unusually large ears, which is where Ivwynoth gets her sensitive hearing from.
