It was several days after the snow storm that saw T’kyn wearing Fort’s Weyrleader knot before the former Telgar rider made his first stamp of authority. He had called a meeting of the wing leaders and seconds a chance to get a feel for how the wings worked together and to get to know those in charge. Something happened in there and R’lis walked out without his wing leader knot; Obsidian is now the new Weyrleader’s wing. T’rev remains at the helm of Flint, though rumor has it the Weyrleader is looking at the weyrling program closely.

Fort Weyr. 22 Turns into the Interval. Pern has mostly recovered from the ‘Comet Pass’ that brought back Thread for several turns a decade into the Interval. Six turns after the ’second end’ of Thread, the Fort region struggles to recover from difficult times including a blight on the key fiber staples that fuel the area’s economy, tension between Hold, Hall and Weyr about Interval roles and most recently, the treachery of Holder Rivellan of Fort Sea and Lord Esraval of Fort Hold who attempted to gain control of the entire Fort peninsula through economic pressure, force and murder. As refugees fleeing Esraval’s ‘enforcers’ continue to arrive at the Weyr or bleed over the border into Boll and Peyton and the two Holders face justice, Fort Weyr stands at a crossroads that could determine the course of its history for the rest of the interval.

Fort Weyr at NorConMUSH seeks players to join us for our upcoming Search cycle as well as continuing story threads as the region pulls itself back together after the conclusion of our long-running Hold Conspiracy plot. It might take a few days before the news makes it all the way around the entire Weyr, but it does eventually make it. Apparently on day 12 of month 11, Jaeyi’s firelizard Sugar turned up at the Weyr squawking like crazy and trying to get anyone’s attention that he could. Efforts to communicate with the lizard were frustrating, but eventually yielded the idea that the Baker was in some kind of trouble. Reaching out to contacts at the Hold would quickly reveal that the Baker was caught lifting important Hold papers out of Esraval’s desk, a crime of treason which has seen her sent to the Fort Hold lockup with a strictly controlled visitor list.

The Weyrleader has been beyond grim-faced since and his usual cheer is utterly lacking though he continues to carry out his duties without fail.

Late in the evening of the first day of month 9, after more than a full day of labor, Isobel of Fort Hold bore Lord Esraval a son. Though it was generally known about the hold that she’d gone into labor, the birth announcement was delayed by days, and there was a great deal of coming and going of healers: apparently things were touch and go for a while, for one or both. But finally, a full sevenday later, Isobel and Esraval formally presented their son to the hold: Traivon, named in honor of Esraval’s father Laivon and Isobel’s brother At’re.

Hey there Fort!

We did a little bit of grid cleanup today and also took the opportunity to add
some new rooms to the grid for casual RP and for specific purposes around
the Weyr. Most of the rooms should show up on +tel/ftw. Rooms added
include:%r
Nighthearth (off the LC), Lavatory (off the commons), Classroom (off the
commons), Lakeside Grove (off the Lake Shore), Flight Cave (off the
southern bowl – replaces the Guest Weyr for flights! The Guest Weyr is
still accessible but as an actual guest weyr for visiting riders.).

Most of the caverns area of the grid was cleaned up with significant desc
tweaks as well. Have fun with the new spaces and if you have an idea for a
room, or catch any errors, please drop a line to ftwadmin.

Hey there folks, as an outcome of recent plot discussion on the Fort LJ, we’ve put together some high level guidelines about RP at Fort. These have been listed in ‘+lhelp rp guidelines’ and are posted on the Fort Weyr website: http://fort-weyr.net/roleplay/rp-guidelines. Hopefully these read mostly as common-sense, but if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to shoot a +mail to ftwadmin or bring up a topic on the LJ (http://fortnc.livejournal.com).

Turnover is Friday, February 19th. While we won’t be holding a
formal event for Turnover, the Weyr has a big party planned that includes
not only the traditional bonfires out of doors, but a mixed drinks
extravaganza being served out of the Glass Fountain. There’s a competition
for the best drink recipe submitted by a resident or rider and the food
that the Weyr is laying out for the party is rumored to be top notch,
maybe even giving Fort Hold a run for its money. The theme of the bash is
“Fire and Ice” and apparently many of the drinks will be following this
scheme while the decor is set for all blue, silver and white. Dancing will
of course be going on until all hours, both out of doors and within as
well as down at the Hold.

Day 8, month 13, turn 21 of the 10th Interval

Just when things were starting to look up with more and more raiders getting rounded up, raids on the decline due to both Fortian efforts and the increasingly cold and snowy winter conditions in the northern part of Fort’s coverage area, tragedy strikes again. After a brief bout of stomach flu, Lord Savilan seems to have developed appendicitis and the surgery to remove his appendix in time failed. All of Fort Hold is in mourning for the reserved, but capable Lord. Amidst such sorrow however, questions swirl: who will take up the mantle of leadership at Fort Hold? Her Lady? Her Steward? Or will Astivan step up with a Warder to help and guide him?

NorConMUSH will be down due to server maintenance at our hosting site from 4pm PT on February 6 to 4pm PT on February 7, 2010.

Please join us on TooMUSH in the interim, NC’s refugee room is located at #237 and Fort has three RP rooms built out. FTW1 is a mini-grid of Fort rooms, if you’d like to link up a private room, the living cavern and the bowl on the mini-grid are both link_ok. FTW2 is set for Fort Hold and FTW3 has our tp room code on it. If you see header and footer error messages in the tp room, pay no mind, those are holdover references from NC and don’t affect the function of the multi-descer.

Hey there folks, we’re looking to fill some roles for upcoming plotfu and to that end, we’ve added the handy dandy CONCEPTS to +lhelp which points to our Character Concepts page on the web site. That page has moved from the RP section to the Join section of the web site and will be updated periodically as concept needs change. If you have friends who are considering trying out NorCon, please feel free to point them to this page, or bring them on over for a try out. We’re especially interested in getting the roles of Astrella and Astivan of Fort Hold filled soon as they will feature in the next bit of plot arcing that will carry us through to Fort’s next Search cycle starting in June and ending in August.
