Isyath’s Clutch Hatches
Day 25 of month 1, Isyath and Riuscyth’s clutch of eleven safely hatched to give Fort a new class of weyrlings, comprised of 2 bronzes, 2 browns, 3 blues and 4 greens. Among the Impressees were:
A’ryk and Realm of Fire Blue Ginanguth
E’ten and Time’s Watchful Soul Bronze Adiulth
Magdesse and Weathered Galleon Figurehead Brown Kaimyth
N’rov and Molten Glass Bronze Vhaeryth
Much to the surprise of many, one of the greens refused to choose from the Candidates before her and decided that the grandson of Lord Jivrain of Boll was the boy for her, selecting the young man from the stands.
OOC: Congratulations to Fort’s new weyrlings! Many thanks to everyone who was involved in this cycle, including candidates, egg writers, Search riders and our Search Co!
A New Headwoman and Arrival
With the injuries which Shevena suffered at Turn’s End keeping her from running the caverns, the Headwoman’s knot has temporarily fallen to one of her assistants: Mairwen. It remains to be seen how long this appointment will be for, some claiming that Shevena is indestructible and will be back on her feet within sevens, while others are more cautious and believe it’s more likely to be months until she can walk properly again, let alone reclaim her knot.
More work than usual will be passing into the hands of Mairwen and her assistants, since the Weyrwoman is on leave following the birth of her daughter in the early hours of day 10, month 1. Why the Weyrleader was out on Elaruth’s ledge and inside the weyr during those hours is anybody’s guess. Though with a name like Nimarie, who is that child’s father?
Turn’s End Disaster
Fort’s Turn’s End ball did not go to plan for terribly long, for the celebration was cut short by the storm that crept up on the region and managed to shatter the roof of the solarium. Some say the roof was actually struck by lightning, whereas others argue it was just the strength of the wind or a result of the thunder. Many were injured, including Headwoman Shevena, who will be unable to carry out her duties for the foreseeable future.
Having been surrendered to the elements, the solarium is now sporting a temporary flat wooden roof. Who knew that the ties the Weyrleader created with the Woodcraft would prove to be so useful?
Hatching Time & Date
Isyath and Riuscyth’s clutch will be hatching on Saturday 25th of February at 7pm EST. All are invited to watch from the Galleries (@tel #745)!
Isyath Clutches
Many of Fort’s weyrfolk have been laying bets about when the young queen Isyath might clutch, and just how many. Whether out of Fortian pride or fact that it was the gold’s first flight, many who betted on a low number of eggs were disappointed when, after a long day of clutching on day 17, month 13, eleven eggs lay on the hot sands of the clutching grounds.
While Isyath isn’t a particularly maternal dam, she’s normally nearby, even if not in the clutching grounds themselves. As for the High Reachian sire, Riuscyth? He hasn’t yet been sighted at Fort, which — given the relationship between the two Weyrs of late — many are saying is probably for the best.
Reassignment
A few short days after Reachian dragonriders came for the imprisoned Bollians, changes were made to the dragonrider duty roster. Any wings posted to sweeps over Southern Boll have been reassigned to logging duty with the Woodcrafters. In fact, all riders with duties in Boll have been posted to other tasks. The Weyrleader gave no formal information about why these changes were made but some weyrfolk have come to their own assumptions based on recent events.
Prisoners Released
On day 3, month 12, Fort Weyr had some unusual visitors. A pair of High Reaches riders, accompanied by a harper wearing Southern Boll’s colors arrived. When happened next occured behind closed doors, but the upshot is that the three Southern Boll residents taken prisoner were released into the custody of High Reaches Weyr riders. Rumors are buzzing. Why are High Reaches riders involved? What did Lord Jivrain give the ‘Reaches to secure their assistance? What do the Weyrleaders think about all this? And just what will the impact be of a shortened tithe on the coming winter months?
Boll Tithe Train
It was late afternoon on day 28, month 11, turn 27 of the 10th interval when the tithe train finally arrived from Southern Boll. While the weyrfolk were set for a celebration, the mood quickly turned sour as it became apparent that the actual goods didn’t meet the listed manifest. Accusations and threats were made, some even say the guards were hogtied and dragged – and did you see the blood coming from that poor driver? – and the end result was the imprisonment of the three Southern Boll residents who had escorted the tithe. There’s little doubt that this incident – whoever is responsible – will do little to heal the fraying relationship between Fort Weyr and Southern Boll. The only question now is – just what will Lord Jivrain do?
Weyrling Lost
Early afternoon of day 24, month 11, Fort’s dragon population first received a burst of confusion and anxiety from one of the yet to graduate weyrling class. Then nothing. Then further worry and agitation and… nothing. The keening soon followed, reporting that blue Silzoth and young M’lan had been lost. What evidence that is available points to a hasty jump Between being the cause of death, but what happened leading up to it is unclear. All that’s known is that the pair had spent their morning delivering messages to the minor holds in Southern Boll.
Fort’s weyrlingmasters haven’t lost a weyrling pair to Between in turns, though a fault in training cannot be disregarded. The loss must be unsettling for the Candidates already assembling for Isyath’s clutch. Given the strained relationship between Boll and Fort, Silzoth’s last location has some imaginations running rather wild.
