Though there’s been at least one bad snow storm this winter so far, the weather seems a lot less snowy than it was last winter when Fort was hammered by snow storm after snow storm. Though the Bowl maintains a light coating of snow, down in the valley below the mountain, the ground is snow-free between storms and thaws partly during the day before freezing again at night.

day 12, month 13, turn 22
It was several days after the snow storm that saw T’kyn wearing Fort’s Weyrleader knot before the former Telgar rider made his first stamp of authority. He had called a meeting of the wing leaders and seconds a chance to get a feel for how the wings worked together and to get to know those in charge. Something happened in there and R’lis walked out without his wing leader knot; Obsidian is now the new Weyrleader’s wing. T’rev remains at the helm of Flint, though rumor has it the Weyrleader is looking at the weyrling program closely.

Hey there Fort! This search cycle we’re trying out something a little bit different. Our Search is open – all applicants will be Searched and we’re looking to the whole Weyr rather than a SearchCo to provide constructive comments. You can see the list of candidates at any time by typing ftw .who/candidates and you can leave a comment with the following command: +comment = leaving off the < and >.
We will also shortly have available +object which will allow members of the Weyr to register an objection to a candidate’s impression. Please review the criteria for objections on the Fort Weyr website (http://fort-weyr.net/searches/searchco) carefully as +object should not be used lightly. All +objections will be reviewed by the admin team prior to action being taken with a candidate.

Around midday on day 7 of month 13, turn 22, Peirith surprised the Weyr by lifting off into the steadily falling snow to pilot the Weyr’s bronzes and a few outWeyr visitors in a turbulent, unexpectedly early (and inevitably demanding) flight. Though known to be in the initial stage of proddiness, based on her previous cycles, the senior queen had been predicted to have at least a day or two left before she rose… long enough, surely, that T’rev could safely take some downtime at Nerat to celebrate his daughter’s birthday. But though Mecaith did reappear to join the pursuit, between the weather, his late start and whatever else may have been in the air, he fell short of winning Peirith again.
Who did? T’kyn’s Dargonath, continuing a perplexing tradition of Telgar-clutched bronzes winning Fortian leadership flights… which means that just a few weeks before Turnover and just days after the upsets of Rivellan’s execution and the removal of Lord Esraval from Fort Hold, the Weyr also has a new Weyrleader.
In the end, on top of everything else the Weyr’s been through, some might find it difficult to stomach a complete unknown in charge, even if he was a wingleader at that other Weyr… though others might murmur that it’s good riddance, as T’rev never seemed to really want the job anyway. At least there’s a clutching to look forward to, around the middle of month 3, leading to a hatching in month 4. And hatchings bring parties, right?

After days of hearing testimonies and deliberations, Astivan, Heir of Fort Hold, along with his mother, Astrella, pronounced their sentences upon all parties involved in the conspiracies which had gripped Fort Hold over the past several months. Before a general convocation of all those involved, Astivan relayed the decisions reached by himself and his mother.
- Esraval of Fort Hold, Eidee of Ruatha River and Rivellan of Fort Sea Hold were convicted of conspiracy. Esraval and Eidee were sentenced to exile, however, Rivellan, having been fingered as the instigator behind the conspiracy as well as the murder of Lord Savilan of Fort Hold and the attempted murder of Astivan himself, was sentenced to be executed immediately.
- Leoren of Four Sons was convicted of conspiracy to murder and attempted murder and sentenced to exile. Rumor has it Astivan himself favored execution, however his mother convinced him to agree to exile, perhaps out of respect for Astivan’s betrothed, Leoren’s sister, Fiorella.
- Jaeyi, Journeywoman Baker, was found innocent of the charges of treason for which she was imprisoned and given a complete, unconditional pardon by Astivan and Astrella, who also beseeched the Craft to accept the pardon and allow the baker to retain her rank and position at Fort Hold. It was made known at that time that the journeywoman would be taking a leave of absence for an unspecified amount of time to recover from her recent incarceration.
- Isobel of Fort Hold, wife of Esraval, was also found innocent of her husband’s machinations, and both she and her son were offered asylum at Fort Hold.
- A number of Fort Guards were also convicted of conspiracy and raiding, and were sentenced to be exiled. Those responsible for the murder of the crew of the ‘Scudder’ were sentenced to execution.
Though the trials and sentencing helped to clear up much of the confusion surrounding Fort Hold, some questions still remain. What will Isobel do with herself and her son with her husband exiled for life? What will happen between Astivan and Fiorella now that her brother is to be exiled for attempting to murder her betrothed? These questions and others may yet be answered in the months to come, as the grim task of picking up the pieces falls upon young Astivan’s shoulders.

day 3/4, month 13, turn 22
In the aftermath of the execution and exile of the conspirators, the Weyr has seen fit to recognize certain of its members for going above and beyond the call of duty.
A few days after the events of the 1st, the Weyrleaders recognized the following at meal-time:
* Y’nolek for discovering the crew of the ‘Scudder’ and dealing with the aftermath as well as rescuing two candidates from a raider attack,
* M’try for rescuing Vanissa,
* B’kaiv, for services rendered above and beyond the call of duty, though what exactly he did isn’t really stated clearly.
Though not huge, each rider recognized by the Weyr was given a small monetary bonus and an engraved metal goblet with the Fort Weyr sigil on one side, and the recipient’s name and date on the other.

Fort Weyr. 22 Turns into the Interval. Pern has mostly recovered from the ‘Comet Pass’ that brought back Thread for several turns a decade into the Interval. Six turns after the ’second end’ of Thread, the Fort region struggles to recover from difficult times including a blight on the key fiber staples that fuel the area’s economy, tension between Hold, Hall and Weyr about Interval roles and most recently, the treachery of Holder Rivellan of Fort Sea and Lord Esraval of Fort Hold who attempted to gain control of the entire Fort peninsula through economic pressure, force and murder. As refugees fleeing Esraval’s ‘enforcers’ continue to arrive at the Weyr or bleed over the border into Boll and Peyton and the two Holders face justice, Fort Weyr stands at a crossroads that could determine the course of its history for the rest of the interval.
Fort Weyr at NorConMUSH seeks players to join us for our upcoming Search cycle as well as continuing story threads as the region pulls itself back together after the conclusion of our long-running Hold Conspiracy plot. This cycle, we are trying out a slightly different method of conducting Search and we welcome players to come find out more about our open Search and Impression and collaborative dragonwriting process. Check it out on our website at http://fort-weyr.net/searches and if you’re interested in a non-candidate or non-weyrling character, we also have several desired character types available on our Concepts page: http://fort-weyr.net/join/character-concepts. We look forward to meeting you!

The rumors have been pointing to it happening for a little while and on the 14th of month 12, the rumors have turned to reality. Lord Esraval was detained first thing this morning, put under arrest by his own guards no less and then marched over to the Harper Hall for questioning. News from the hall points to a nasty web of lies, deceit and collaboration between the former Steward and Holder Rivellan of Fort Sea. As a result, both men are now being kept in lockup, replacing jailbird-now-flown, Jaeyi.
With these detentions, Astivan as Heir, takes control of Fort Hold again with the support of Lady Astrella. Word has it that the young acting Lord will pronounce judgment on the conspirators and that he is already moving to ‘clean house’ at Fort Hold and amongst the guard corps presently terrorizing Fort’s roads and small holds.

On the 10th of month 12, Rivellan was put under house arrest, with a guard contingent from Fort Hold on watch and riders from the Weyr put on special watch to keep the Holder of Fort Sea from escaping his own hold. The rumor as to why? Apparently, he’s behind the heir’s recent bought of ‘illness’ which wasn’t illness at all, but poison. The trail of evidence also implicates Leoren of Four Sons, Fiorella’s older brother. To add insult to injury one might say, three days later, the traitor Jaeyi vanished into thin air from her cell at the Hold, amidst a rising tide of resentment and frustration over increasing crackdowns by Fort guards in the entire region to ‘keep everyone safe’.

It might take a few days to notice, but after the evening of the 22nd of month 11, Fiorella, the Weyrleader’s foster-daughter starts turning up around the Weyr again and seems to be staying with the Weyrleader or in a room in the dorms, depending on whom you ask. Harpers are often more frequent visitors at Fort and several groups of riders have been dispatched to fulfill special duties, keeping track of guards on the roads, while others have been set to keep a close watch on the port at Fort Sea. What’s that all about? Aren’t the troubles with that hold long over? Either way you slice it, it can’t be pleasant to be hanging out in the late autumn weather as the cold closes in around the more northern stretches of Fort Weyr’s coverage area.
