A notice has been posted in the commons cavern which reads something like:
All residents and dragonriders above the age of 15 who are interested in learning to shoot are welcome to attend lessons which will be starting on the 9th day of month 7 and will continue every second day of each seven thereafter. Lessons will cover both the short and longbows, and will also include fletching. Those who become proficient may be asked to take up training themselves. All interested parties can speak to Avaryk in stores, or sign up here. (A mostly blank sheet hangs next to the notice, a line dividing it down the middle with each section bearing a heading. ‘Mid-morning’ and ‘Mid-afternoon.’)
OOC Note: Okay so, since I as a player know only the bare-bones basics of archery, I’m not going to bother holding any on-camera lessons. If any PCs want to participate, send me a +mail and I’ll give you a little blurb on what Aryk’s like as a teacher. Also, if you /do/ wish some type of scene relating to the lessons, please don’t hesitate to ask and we can arrange something.

It was morning of day 4, month 6 when Avaryk returned to Fort Weyr from his mysterious absence, looking rather rumpled and tired and… dressed as a Southern Boll guard? The man himself has so far said little in reply to curious questions, leaving gossip to generate around the story of the watchrider who brought him in. Rumour has it Avaryk was escorted out of the Hold under guard and is never to return, some are even saying under threat of imprisonment if he does, though surely that’s just an exaggeration.
What ever could he have done to have warranted such a dismissal? Wasn’t he involved in apprehending Bea? You’d think Boll would be grateful to no longer have the murderess running loose in their area.

Late afternoon of day 3, month 6, brown Wroth announced, << We've got her!! >> to the entire Fortian dragon population. It was a few minutes more before just what he meant by those words became clear, when he and E’dre returned to the Weyr with an unconscious and bound Bea in tow. Rumour has it that she was found close to Boll Hold, though more detail than that has yet to makes its way through to all weyrfolk. Well, aside from something about Avaryk saving E’dre’s life. Avaryk? Doesn’t – didn’t – he work in Stores? Just where has he been all this while?
Is the Weyr truly safe with Bea back in residence? Even if she is locked-up in the depths of Fort’s caverns? Some are questioning why E’dre didn’t just drop her Between.

Fort has been hunting for one of its own for well over a month and has, as yet, discovered only traces of the former brownrider that took the life of a suffering greenrider and severely injured another. The increased presence of riders in Fort’s skies has thus far been explained away by the change in leadership and a heavier sweeps schedule, but day 24 of month 5, the Weyrleaders were forced to finally tell the major Holds about their ‘missing person’.
Word of how this has been received has yet to fully filter back to the Weyr, but surely the only recently confirmed Lord Jivrain of Boll will have had something to say about the whole affair, given his less than fond view of Fort. General opinion is that his actions will likely speak louder than his words.

Since ex-brownrider Bea fled the Weyr, dragonriders have been sent out in search for her. At first things were kept quiet so as not to disturb the weyrfolk and alert the Holders. Now, with one dragonrider in the infirmary, the presence of armed dragonriders in the wilderness of Fort’s beholden has increased considerably. Wings are asked to divide themselves into teams of two or more when looking for Bea, always carry a weapon, and leave no bush or cave behind. And most importantly: steer clear of the Holds.
OOC: have fun frolicking in the fields and forests!

It’s with little fanfare – a small sign, neatly painted, proclaiming “Rider Specials” – that the Glass Fountain heralds a handful of additions to its drink menu. Fort riders get a %15 discount off the new items, and lucky them: word has it that the new spiced spring beer comes straight from Telgar, and the plum brandy is from Master Vinter Tarasa’s own batch. Is it an attempt at lightening the mood after a few dark weeks? Or is the Fountain just cashing in on what seems like a surge in business lately? Whatever the case, apprentice Vinter Lochlan looks to be behind the whole venture, and barstaff are redirecting any inquiries (or complaints) to be taken up with him.

Day 17 of Month 4, the Weyr’s dragons heard a frantic, terrified voice begging for help. Seconds later, a rescue team was sent Between to the foothills of Boll but didn’t return til hours later with Obsidian wingrider Yamilet and her green Ivwynoth in tow. Later on, the wings returned in search for Bea.
Rumours are flying: will Yamilet and Ivwynoth die? Who will Bea attack next? Holders? Weyrfolk? The pressure is on the Weyrleaders and dragonriders to find her before the bodies start piling up.

In the early hours of day 11, month 4, the dragons of Fort Weyr keened for the loss of green Nyvenirth, who went Between without her rider, Isaphe, or, as some argue, /because/ of Isaphe. The greenrider was known to have been suffering some sort of mental disorientation and displayed little care or affection for her lifemate, unlike turns past.
Isaphe did not have to suffer long without Nyvenirth. Her body was discovered in the lower caverns, not far from the Infirmary, a knife embedded in her chest. The idea that she took her own life was short-lived, given the ‘B’ carved into the handle of the knife.
And the fact that Fort’s dragonless rider, Bea, is now missing…

Masochistic dragonriders rejoice! Ontop of sweeps and drills, wings are now on a rotating schedule of logging! Yes, Pern’s proud dragonriders will be helping the Woodcrafters haul trees until month 6. Naturally, some folks are dead-set against this – including some of N’muir’s close relatives. Others are happy for the change of scenery.
What’s the purpose? Personal gain? Stronger Weyr-Hall relations? Better prices on lumber? Or does the Weyrleader just like torturing his wings?

Just when Fortians are beginning to put the tragedy of Lord Visrain’s death behind them, there is one event looming closer that will put Southern Boll (or at least their Weavers) back in the forefront of some minds: Fashion Week. Weavers from across the area are in a mad rush to complete their projects on time to earn as many marks from the pockets of weyrfolk and visitors in their brief week-long celebration of style! There are high hopes that this Turn’s Spring Fashion Week will ease some of the bad luck that Fort Weyr seems plagued with – assuming nothing goes awry.
OOC: Mark your calendars – Nov 8 and Nov 9 the Weyr will ICly be busting at the seams with pretty things to spend your hard-earned marks on!
