Month 2
Month 2 – First Aid & Hunting
RL Dates: Nov 13 – Nov 22, 2009
Dragon age: 2 months – 3 months
RP/Vignette Topics
- Practice bandaging each other and/or your dragons during First Aid class.
- Meet with your mentor, get to know each other a little.
- Play out or write about your dragon’s first hunt on foot.
- Play “What’s The Time Wolf” type game, with dragons. See if you can get your dragon to listen to you and start and stop when you’re supposed to.
- Sandbag toss practice with heavier bags.
- How do you feel about your mentor? Do you like him/her? Are you looking forward to more time spent with your mentor?
- Have a conversation with your dragonet or with one of your clutchmates to get their opinions about lessons and your mentor.
Milestones
Dragon
- Dragonet sensitivity continues to decrease as the bond becomes more comfortable.
- Your dragonet is now at about a quarter of his or her full size.
- Dragonets begin hunting for themselves on foot
Weyrling
- Morning laps, a half lap of the Bowl, are added to the exercise routine.
- Weyrlings start studying and memorizing wing formations in preparation for ground drills
- Rider mentors are assigned to each weyrling. Weyrlings are encouraged to talk with their mentors, ask questions and may seek extra practice and training with their mentors
- Weyrlings learn the basics of human and dragon first aid: when to apply numbweed, how to disinfect a wound, how to bandage up various wounds, how to treat dehydration, how to do mouth-to-mouth breathing. (Basically, your standard Red Cross curriculum a la Pern)
- Most weyrlings will notice an increase in their overall fitness level as exercises continue to ramp up, though the pace is relatively gradual.
