Month 6

Elevator Duty & Flying Long

RL Dates: Dec 22 – 31, 2009
Dragon age: 6 – 7 months

Suggested RP/Vignette Topics

  • Play or write about doing Elevator Duty. This is the perfect opportunity to give non-riders rides around the Weyr and get to know some of our residents, IC staff and crafters a little bit better.
  • How does it feel to be able to be (mostly) free to fly long all on your own? Where do you go? What do you do while you’re there? What’s your dragon’s take on it all?
  • Though you won’t start going Between for several months, drilling in visualizations begins with common objects, then parts of the Bowl, then the Star Stones. You’ll be expected to have your dragon ’snap’ a visual in place for the weyrlingmaster’s dragon with increasing speed an accuracy over the next few months in preparation for going Between. Play or write about starting visualization practice and how your first attempts to visualize a familiar object for your dragon went.
  • Play or write about fittings for your first set of new leathers and getting the finished product with the Weyr’s weavers.

Milestones

Dragonet

  • Dragons are now half their full-grown size.
  • Dragons are now comfortable flying long for longer distances with their riders onboard.
  • Dragons are starting to eat less often, though meals are still a daily affair and some may still want a second meal.

Weyrling

  • Weyrlings have now moved out of some lessons and are steadily replacing classroom time with drill or duty time.
  • Weyrlings now have a pretty ’set’ schedule divided between continued regular physical training, lessons in the morning, duties in the afternoon and free time in the evening.

Daily Schedule

(This is a guideline only and is intended to give you an idea of how a typical Weyrling’s day might go.)

    6:00 AM – Physical training
    7:00 AM – Breakfast
8:00 AM – Ground and Air Drills
    11:00 AM – Visualization Practice
    12:00 PM – Lunch
1:00 PM – Duties – StarStones, Elevator Duty or Message Duty down to the Hold
    4:00 PM – Designated homework/straps/punishment time
6:00 PM – Dinner, free time, dragons hunt

Rules & Restrictions

  • Weyrlings may travel down to Fort Hold for short visits/duties and fly long around the Weyr in a radius of the same distance as Weyr-to-Hold without supervision. Destinations farther away require a weyrlingmaster along for the ride. Still no Between!
  • Regardless of distance, if your dragon gets upset about anything or needs attention, you are to return to the Weyr immediately to tend to him/her.
  • Moderation continues to be the policy where liquor is concerned.
  • What you do in the privacy of your own Weyr is entirely up to you. Intimacy restrictions are officially lifted.
  • Weyrlings must salute all riders, and may salute or bow to ranking Crafters and Holders.
